Mulu + Miri Trip 17-21 Jan 2007 (ii)

Started the next day early - 7.30am. I woke up early so that we could go for breakfast. I don't want us to start walking with empty stomachs leh.

Coz CL said that we have to take the boat to the caves at 8.30 mah.

After breakie we went to the mini jetty to wait for our boat. Was feeling quite lucky coz I didn't see the guide. YET.

Beautiful weather

Luckily for us, there was enough water for the boat to move without having us wet our feet to push us to our destination.

The boatman first brought us to a small village for some 'shopping'. We bought some souvenirs for the folks in office (RM12). And I bought mum a fan made of a palm leaf (RM2). The kind which 媒婆s from long long ago use. =D

We roamed around the bazaar for another 10 minutes or so, then we went back to the little boat to continue our journey to the Wind and Clearwater caves.

One would see the other exit from the Wind Cave just before he arrive at the main entrance to the cave. When we reached, I looked up and gasped.

STAIRS.

OMG.

But I managed to clear the flight of stairs in less than 5 minutes. =D

The moment we reach the top, I see our guide for the day.

The same one.

Sian half lah.

She macam chasing chickens and ducks the whole walk in the cave. Fed up leh. We didn't bother much about her though. Took our own sweet time. Plus there wasn't much wind in the cave. Stuffy like siao. What Wind Cave is this?? But the views out of the cave was great. So that makes up for the wind-less experience lah.

There is a part of the cave with a gate, which prevents visitors from unauthorized entry after a certain time - the King's Chamber. Have to use a little imagination to be able to see the idea of a King's Chamber.

We took less than 30 minutes to complete the cave. Fast hor?

Went back on the boat coz we didn't want to walk to the Clearwater cave by foot. She told us that the walk will only take 5 minutes.

5 minutes, MY FOOT!

After 5 minutes by BOAT, we were at the foot of the mountain which housed 2 caves. Young Lady and Clearwater.

These 2 caves made me climb more stairs.

The Young Lady Cave was named as such coz there were some formations which had shadows which looks like ladies.

Like this one:

I thought this looks like Mother Mary

In less than 30 minutes, we completed the cave and proceeded to Clearwater.

- All the rock formations in the caves look the same to me leh.

Intro to the Clearwater Cave

There are lots of ups and downs (stairs) in the Clearwater cave. And you can get wet in this cave. Water drips from the roof so wearing a cap helps.

At the end of the cave is a place where the water flows. The water is cool and refreshing! Take the time to step down and take a dip. Your feet lah.

And as usual, the guide was rushing us again.

Out of the Clearwater Cave

We were out of the cave at around 11am.

CL and AT proceeded to another cave - Moon Milk - for more stairs climbing adventure, while KF and me took the boat back to the National Park to rest.

Canopy Walk! The most looked forward walk!

Hehe.

And no surprise, we have the same guide again. This time she made it very obvious that she 'disliked' us.

CL was just asking her if she was the guide for the Canopy Walk coz we were going for it and she said yes. But while we were paying for the trip in the office, she left with the group of 4 + 1 angmohs.

She didn't wait up even though the staff in the office said that she would inform the guide through the walkie talkie. We had to run after them to catch up.

WTFISH???

We were bitching about her while chasing for the group. And as usual, we were left at the back of the group.

There's no turning back

The look on KF's face when we arrived was interesting. A look of mixed feelings.

LOL!

Only 2 people were allowed to proceed at a time, and only 1 at certain legs of the walk.

The planks and ropes were surprisingly strong, but wobbled quite a bit as it was too long.

At the end of the walk, the guide saw that CL and KF was still up there walking. And she was exclaiming, "Why so slow? Fast, fast, fast!". But she shut up when we told her that there's still the angmoh couple behind them.

Why aa? Visit Malaysia 2007 only applies to angmohs?

Kaoz!

We started running after the group at around 2.30pm. We completed the world's longest canopy walk and was back in the room at around 4.30pm. Like that rush can enjoy scenary meh?

It started to drizzle when we were on our way back to the longhouse. Was quite glad that the weather was very kind to us. Didn't rain while we were out. All that scare from Yahoo.com weather predictions. Thunder storms. Heng ah! Only stormed at night when we were sleeping.

Went back, showered, had dinner at the mini restaurant at the entrance of the park. Went back to Cafe Mulu for some Jenga, dominoes and chess. Halfway through the chess game, I realised that I left our room key at the restaurant. Damn! Had to go back in the dark. Luckily the owner kept the key for me. Otherwise chamm lah.

Lights off at Cafe Mulu around 9+. We could only go back to the room to sleep. Again.

Thank god we were leaving for Miri Town the next day.
